The Frisian artist Rhodis stands for wild expressionism and authenticity. She makes what could be called surrealistic dreamscapes. Her often colorful images and seemingly rough style jump to the eye but if you take a second look you will notice a strange delicacy as well. The drawings and paintings are made on wood, paper and canvas with pen, ink and (acryl) markers. Whatever she can find, she works with. A Rhodis contains so many details that one work can tell a thousand stories. Her images work like a rollercoaster dragging one into a world of emotion, explosive and refined at the same time.
